Why is my email address so weird?

One word: SPAM.   So here's my solution:  Everyone gets their own address to send mail to me.  If I start getting spam to an address I simply throw that address away. So, simply make up your own address.  If your name is Jim Smith (hi Jim!) you could send email to jim.smith@steve.wilfam.org.  As long as it ends in @steve.wilfam.org I'll get it.  Do, however, try to make it unique.  If I have to throw an address away I'd rather it wasn't the one you're using.
